Turmeric
Easy to grow perennial herb that will grow to about 1m in height. It can be grown in the ground or pots. Lush leaves and a spectacular flower makes them a delight to have in the garden. Will grow in full sun or part shade. It is a native to south east Asia, so likes warmth and moisture. Protection from frost is needed. Plant September-October when the soil is warmer. To harvest, you wait until the foliage has died and the rhizome have matured. They become stronger in colour and flavour as they mature. Harvest is approximately 9-10 months after planting.
